Why is ff7 good
It ends, however, as the party leaves the metropolis. Final Fantasy 7 in its entirety is only beginning at that point. Given FF7 Remake director Tetsuya Nomura's presumed intentions to alter the tale that follows, there is no way to be certain further episodes will follow the same journey as their source material, meaning the original game may be the only place to experience some of the more powerful occurrences in the story of Cloud and friends.
Outside Midgar, Shinra Corporation's pursuit of Mako energy , a depletable resource with several uses, has ruined communities and run most of the land's fauna into early extinction. In one fishing town, the ocean view is obstructed by a tangle of metal scaffolding and wires. A concrete platform, home to both military installation and corporate housing, has drowned out its sunlight and ruined its prospects; there are no fish in the sea. Toxic chemicals dredged up in mining have disrupted ecosystems and poisoned water sources and dangerous mutant animals block passage between the few villages that remain.
The world of Final Fantasy 7 is defined by anecdotes like this: people struggling against a power infinitely larger and more well-equipped than them, knowing their pure motives will never outweigh that of Shinra's greed.
While Final Fantasy 7 Remake lends more depth to the dimensions of Midgar itself, the goings-on of the city are only one side of the coin. Similarly, Final Fantasy 7 Remake excises old-school combat in favor of something more hands-on. While the battles are great in their own right, the change effectively makes the two versions wholly separate experiences. Even the optional bosses , barring the Emerald and Ruby Weapons, offered a challenge without being too punishing. The Materia setups were in the player's hands and, as such, made bosses range from challenging to trivial.
While some players were attached to the game's scene , it was perhaps the only standout tragedy. Final Fantasy X , however, was not afraid to tug at heartstrings throughout the game. Final Fantasy X revealed devastating truths throughout its latter half. The entire game feels tragic once you learn the fates of key characters. With that being said, it isn't an exaggeration to say that Final Fantasy X has one of the best endings in the series.
Shinra planned to take over the world with Mako while Sephiroth would destroy the world with Meteor. They were given plenty of screen-time. Final Fantasy X had Seymour who was far less popular than Sephiroth. The overarching villain, Sin, was more of a being or force of nature while guided by a vessel, so to speak. While that particular "villain" had his own development, the true, final evil appeared right at the very end. While Final Fantasy X doesn't offer the plethora of the Gold Saucer's mini-games, in exchange, it offers one big mini-game: Blitzball.
Blitzball was used as a story element which also featured in both Tidus and Wakka's fighting styles. The Blitzball mini-game could also be used to unlock certain items and weapons. It's honestly surprising that Square Enix never capitalized on it with multiplayer properties. The FMV cinematics trail-blazed video game development and storytelling. Then the setting: I loved that world. A better world map, I have never encountered. Full of mystery and variety, from exploring the ocean depths in a submarine to zipping about the skies in your airship to traveling around on a chocobo, it was about as dynamic as any interactive world could've been.
Each town had a style and persona all its own, each area had a specific appeal, and how each character reacted to each region was also important. There's a reason why one of the most memorable moments in history is when Sephiroth slays Aeris. They remember specific moments.
They remember the times when they reacted to what they say, and the bottom line is that we kept reacting throughout. It seemed like every new scene was worth storing in our memory banks, because it affected us in a completely new and even profound way.
No matter what happens in gaming from here on out, you know you'll always recall these scenes. That's what makes for a special game. When you factor in everything, and you take into consideration the era in which it was released, I don't think there's any doubt about it: Final Fantasy VII is still the best RPG ever made. Doesn't apply to me, trust me on that. Web Twitter Facebook.
Published Jul. There seems to be a high correlation between ff7 fans and being a weeb who never really played other rpgs anyway. There have been so many great games since FF7 came out. But none have even close to had the same impact on me. It had such an utterly engrossing storyline. I'm nervous with the remake coming out. If it even comes close to what the original was, then a whole new generation of gamers are going to experience a magical game that will change the way they look at video games.
I just hope it does the original justice. I didn't have a Play Station, but our family got a new PC in and by that time I was able to get a fairly cheap PC version of the game. I finally finished the game in January While it's hard not to be impressed by it, I think I came to the realization that I just assumed that the game would be better than any RPG prior to it that I'd played, because of the game's length and depth.
For all of that, I think the game still has a lot of faults the same faults that many RPGs have had since. The cinema element of the game just seems a bit amateurish and inferior compared to the actual cinema of the time, particularly the game's characters and their dialogue. And I really think the game's story just isn't that great. I've played games that I think are better for having stories that are simpler and shorter. Length and depth are definitely not a sign of greatness necessarily in my book.
I was definitely drawn into the game at some points. I did like the idea of Cloud trying to discover his true past and it was surprised by what it turned out to be. I think possibly the romance element of the game is what hurts it the most. The game does become a bit like a life simulation at times, with Cloud going on a date with Tifa.
