Why does it usually rain at night
Great read Yufei! I never knew there was actually a scientific reason behind why rain makes you fall asleep, I just thought it was a calming sound! I wonder if there is a point when rain gets so heavy it actually has the opposite effect to what you describe here, and actually makes you not be able to sleep.
Would you have any ideas of this? It explains some secrets behind sleepiness. Now I understand why I am always feeling sleepy on rainy days. I am wondering if intaking melatonin could potentially provide a better sleep quality? The negative ions phenomenon sounded interesting, so I looked it up. The sources you list are not scientific at all. Can you provide some more evidence to suggest that this phenomena is not just pseudoscience?

There is often wind mid day, and then about 5 it switches off and we get a Westerly as the land finishes heating and it sucks in the cooler air off the Sound.
This means if you are sailing on a Northly head toward the Western shore until you get headed, but before it lightens too much from being in the wind shadow of the ridge.
When you get headed, tack back out. Of course you have to keep an eye on the windward marker. And it means you'll be coming in on Port if you nail the mark with no rights at all. So often it's better to tack a bit early Once you are around the Windward mark, pop the chute and go I've noticed that in Southwestern NM it seems to storm around 5pm to 6pm everyday during Monsoon season but durning winter months rains or snows early in mornings.
Why is that? The weather is mostly clear during daytime. Air is generally cooler at night, and cool air holds less moisture than warm air resulting in rainfall. There is a similar Phys. SE question here which states the same thing.
Is this the only reason why it rains most at night, or are there any other factors which may affect the reason for raining more at night? First off, your observation that Tamil Nadu gets more rainfall in the evening is partially backed by records. Sahany, Venugopal, and Nanjundiah, provide data on diurnal scale rainfall distribution during the Southwest monsoon season shows that Tamil Nadu is dry from each day, and likely to be wet from The Northeast monsoon is different.
Regarding the reasons for this, here are some excerpts from Basu, :. In the Tropics most of the rainfall is from the tall clouds Cu or Cb formed by convection within a deep layer of the atmosphere.
The usual forcing for such clouds to form is the heating from below by the solar radiation absorbed by the ground during the day. This forcing is maximum near the time of maximum surface temperature and the first of the thunderstorms caused by insolation start near local time.
Also worth noting, from Roy and Balling, :. My interpretation of this is that inland Tamil Nadu sees high surface temperatures from sunlight through clear skies striking the ground. The resulting heat is released in the late afternoon and evening, which causes cumulus or cumulonimbus cloud formation and rainfall.
Aguitap, Solsona, Ilocos Norte. Four other companions survived and were immediately brought to the hospital. Although some people may survive a lightning strike, this may also have long-term effects.
Once it hits the brain, a person may have difficulties with his memory, coding new information, and accessing old information. The victim may also suffer from problems with multi-tasking, distractibility, irritability and personality change.
Survivors may complain of headaches, dizziness, nausea, vomiting and sleeping disorders. Fatigue has also beenobserved, wherein a person becomes exhausted after working only within a few hours. Lightning can also generate wildfire, which is very common in the United States.
This occurs when there is abundant moisture in the air, but not enough on the surface. Tornadoes NOAA defines a tornado as a narrow, violently rotating column of air that extends from the base of a thunderstorm to the ground.
Since winds are not visible, one can hardly see a tornado unless it is made up of water droplets, dust and debris. NOAA added that tornadoes are considered as the most violent of all atmospheric storms. Here are few incidents recorded in the country:.
The tornado also damaged 90 houses, two classrooms and a chapel. The tornado only lasted for approximately 10 minutes but it blew off the roofs of the houses and uprooted some trees. According to PAGASA, tornadoes in the Philippines are smaller and have shorter life spans compared to the onesthat occur in other countries.
